Build safer digital deliveries in four steps.

PreflightZIP runs locally in your browser. It helps you find technical packaging problems and generate customer-facing ZIP files, but it does not replace opening, printing, cutting, installing, or physically testing the product.

Quick start

  1. Choose Audit ZIP when you already have a finished ZIP and want a technical packaging report.
  2. Choose Build product pack when you have loose source files, a folder, or an older ZIP that should be rebuilt.
  3. Select the closest product type, review every red blocker and warning, then generate the package.
  4. Download every output part and the build receipt. Upload the ZIP parts to Etsy only after your own final product review.

What the check labels mean

Metadata read
PreflightZIP recognized the file and extracted facts such as image dimensions or print-density metadata.
Signature checked
The expected leading bytes were present. This is useful identity evidence, not a complete application-level validation.
Structure checked
PreflightZIP verified additional format-specific fields or structure beyond the filename extension.
Extension only
The format is labeled from its filename only. Open and test this file in trusted software before release.

Clean ZIP vs. Split for Etsy

Remove system junk deletes only known macOS and Windows metadata such as __MACOSX, .DS_Store, and Thumbs.db. It does not repair corrupt files, rename risky paths, add missing documents, or solve format warnings.

Split for Etsy repackages files into no more than five ZIPs below Etsy's 20 MB per-file limit. It cannot make one incompressible file below 20 MB, and it does not change the contents of product files.

Safety limits

  • 100 MB maximum for a source ZIP.
  • 500 MB maximum expanded product selection.
  • 2,000 source files in the product builder.
  • Archive path, CRC, expanded-size, and compression-ratio checks.
  • Up to five generated Etsy upload files, each below 20 MB.

Etsy currently documents a maximum of five digital files, 20 MB per file, and 70 filename characters using letters, numbers, periods, underscores, or hyphens. Always confirm the current Etsy rules before publishing.

Troubleshooting

  • If a package is still blocked after cleaning, read the remaining finding: cleaning intentionally removes only system junk.
  • If a single file exceeds 20 MB after compression, reduce or optimize that source file, or use a permitted external delivery workflow.
  • If a large product stalls, close other browser tabs and try a current desktop browser with more available memory.
  • If a generated ZIP will not open in the software your customer uses, return to the original source file and test it in that exact application. PreflightZIP does not emulate third-party software.
